One last NY post; me kicking leaves in Central park. I lost energy the second time around, but whatever, I kicked so many leaves that week. I kicked leaves all over that city! Shalom

It’s Fall!  It’s October!  It’s been raining all week!  I’ve been eating stews and walking around in drizzle and just loving every minute of it.  I’ve also been obsessing over halloween costumes.  I do have another (non-costume) wedding to go to this year, so I don’t want to spend too much time or money on my costume, but I would love to give you lovelies some ideas!  But before I start giving away my ideas, here are a few from last year:
The Bride of Frankenstein
A Young Elvis or Buddy Holly (girls in suits!)
Old School Lady Vampire (top hat & ascot!)
Gypsy Fortune Teller
Circus Performer
A Witch!
A Mummy / Post-Op Surgery Queen
I might take up my own advice and dress this year as gypsy- Laura has a turban I’m looking to steal.  Gypsies tramps and theives!

Fall time resolutions of apple jam ‘n butter

Hello everyone. Do you remember the first day of fall? I think the official DATE was September 22nd, but that doesn’t count because it was still hot and sunny in California, and we were left sweating, longingly, in our tights and boots.

I remember the first day and the first moment that it became FALL.

It was October 24th, and I was on my way to Cassie’s house for her pumpkin carving, pancake eating, beer drinking, pre-birthday fun-day! I stopped at Justin’s apartment to pick him up… and a crisp breeze came and blew all the leaves off of the tree in his front yard. The yellow and orange leaves swirled around with all the other leaves from all the other trees, in a slow-motion tornado in the street. (very poetic right?) I had to just sit there and take in that moment.

October 24th, around 10AM… that was the beginning of Fall on Keystone Avenue in Woodland. If I were to ask Justin when fall began, he’d probably say it was the first day of Football Season…

When did Fall start for you?

So now that the season has officially changed, I want to make some resolutions.

  1. I want to take more pictures! I promise to carry my camera with me at all times. And since the birthday gods smiled on me last month… I can use my new iPhone to get the job done in a pinch :)
  2. I will get outside more. Outside of the house, outside of Woodland, outside of my comfort zones… that would all be great.
  3. I will keep my room tidy. This always makes me feel better… but honestly, Ya right!
  4. I will wear at least one bright color every day. Don’t get me wrong, I wear a lot of color, but black is one of my comfort zones… and I’m trying to get out of those remember!

There are a bunch of resolutions I could list. Mainly I want to take more pictures!

Fall started for me when the light changes to orange.  I love love when I don’t have to put a filter on my photos because the sun through the leaves does it for me.  And crunchy leaves.  Awww crunchy leaves, I could stomp around all day.

Can we please go see Where the Wild Things Are once more?

-Mel
